Keith Tippett's Centipede - Septober Energy
Neon, 1971This cover may look very plain and simple, but if you take a look on the inside...

You get the bigger picture. Supposedly, over 50 musicians were involved in this double LP. Just to highlight a few-- our Soft Machine friends Robert Wyatt, Elton Dean, Karl Jenkins (also of Nucleus), Marc Charig, Nick Evans, Roy Babbington (also of Nucleus), John Marshall (also of Nucleus), and Phil Howard; also involved were Keith Tippett's wife Julie Driscoll, Ian Carr (of Nucleus), Ian MacDonald, Gary Windo, and Mongezi Feza (the last two played on Robert Wyatt's "Rock Bottom" album). So, it is a veritable Canterbury Scene "who's who". And it was all produced by none other than Robert Fripp.
The music is definitely along the avant-garde, free jazz lines. It's strange. Many people complain about how inaccessible it is. Some say it was a waste of the energy and talent of so many wonderful musicians. I guess you'll have to listen for yourself...
FILL YOUR EARS sides 1 & 2
FILL YOUR EARS sides 3 & 4

This blog is AMAZING!!!!!!!! Thanks a million for the great music!!
thanks! glad you are enjoying the music!!
i don't kno why they did this, but only half of Septober Energy is here for download. i also do not kno why no one else has noticed this and commented on it. it says that sides 1 & 2 are on the first download, and sides 3 & 4 are on the second download. i went to play them on WMP and it said that both downloads were 23 minutes, or thereabouts. if the downloads each had two sides of music on them, then they should roughly be 45 minutes not 23. i listened to them and what is here is two sides of the album, i used to own many years ago. my brother fortunately has this record on CD, so i am having him loan it to me and i am making a copy of ALL OF IT, not this RIP-OFF that is available here. don't download this, if you want to hear the whole thing!
thank you very much for this great music and your hell of work, but the result is a really extraordinary blog!!!
